Robert J. Olsson...Dr. Olsson writes for the popular and academic presses in his areas of expertise: tinnitus, tinnitus retraining therapy, hyperacusis, habituation therapy for hyperacusis, tinnitus masking, and the advanced and the new all-digital hearing aids. He has lectured for local community groups on all of these subjects.
He has also written a number of popular Web sites for audiologists who provide and fit hearing aids. The writing includes the copywriting, HTML coding, and graphics production. In these sites, Mr. Olsson deliberately avoids complex Java programming tricks, large or complicated graphics, or extensive animations. These features, while "cool," slow down page downloads. Some browsers do not respond to them. Mr. Olsson's Internet pages aren't meant to wow. They're designed to inform the public and sell products and services. Dr. Olsson received his Master's degree in Audiology from San Diego State University in 1982 and his Doctorate in Audiology from Central Michigan University in 2001. He has earned the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, and was one of the first hundred or so audiologists to be Board Certified by the American Board of Audiology. He has served in various positions, doing both clinical, diagnostic audiology in medical settings, and fitting and delivering hearing aids.
Dr. Olsson has the California Tinnitus Center. He can also be found filling in with hearing aid fittings, sales and service for San Diego Hearing Center, and performing diagnostic testing in the offices of otolaryngologists.
